FREEDOM OF RELIGION OR BELIEF: THE LEARNING PATH (ASEAN)

In September 2022, the IPPFoRB brought a small group of parliamentarians from Indonesia, Malaysia, Ghana and Malawi for the IPPFoRB Academy in Oxford. During the intense 3 days of training, participants discussed the right to freedom of religion or belief and its intersection with other rights, such as the right to education and women’s rights. Towards the end of the training, MPs identified tools and strategies they could adopt in their work in the respective countries and drafted action plans.

Building on this experience, IPPFoRB is convening a digital workshop with the participation of a broader group of parliamentarians from Southeast Asia and Africa. The goal of the workshop is to introduce the IPPFoRB competence-building activities to new MPs, share experiences about how successful (or not) the strategies devised in Oxford have been, to discuss more in detail additional challenges MPs encountered in their work to advance freedom of religion or belief and learn from similar examples from other countries. Finally, the last part of the workshop will focus on developing a plan for future steps.

Participation in the workshop is by invitation only. For more information, please contact us at contact@ippforb.com
