THURSDAY 18 - SATURDAY 20 january 2024 | sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

With great pleasure, we extend a warm invitation to both former and current parliamentarians, as well as pertinent civil society actors from the Southeast Europe region, to join us for the inaugural event of the Southeast Freedom of Religion or Belief (SEE FoRB) network. This launch marks a significant leap in regional synergy, committed to championing and uplifting Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB) for all.

The launch of the network is scheduled for January 19th, and it will be followed by a workshop on January 20th. The workshop will bring together parliamentarians, civil society representatives and other relevant regional stakeholders to explore opportunities for the new network to actively engage in both regional and international contexts and identify actionable steps for the future.

We kindly encourage you to RSVP using the following link at your earliest opportunity and no later than 22 November 2023:

Please note that due to limited space, we can only accommodate a limited number of participants. We will make every effort to ensure diversity in terms of geography, religion, and gender among our attendees.

Practical information

We invite all participants to arrive in Sarajevo on January 18th. Departures are scheduled on January 20th or January 21st, depending on individual travel arrangements.

For those travelling from abroad, please ensure that you check the specific requirements that may apply in your case and submit your visa application in a timely manner if required. The organisers are ready to provide an invitation letter to support your application.

The organisers will cover the costs related to visa application, travel and accommodations in Sarajevo.
Further information, including agenda, and participation guidelines, will be shared shortly with registered participants.

Background

This initiative was born from the multi-year involvement of regional MPs with IPPFoRB and several meetings facilitated by IPPFoRB, both digitally and in person, within the region. In August 2023, we facilitated an online consultation in which former and current parliamentarians from the region explored the idea of launching a regional network. This initiative aims to unify the efforts of MPs who have been advocating for freedom of religion or belief, either individually or through their international engagements.
